FedEx Shipping Scam
January 28, 2020
FedEx has notified customers of a scam where an individual receives a text or email telling them their package has arrived. FedEx has warned the public not to click on the link, as it’s not from them, and has been linked to scammers who want to steal your information. There are many ways to protect yourself from phishing scams like these. Check out our tips below.
- Never click on links in suspicious emails. There are thousands of fake sites that look almost identical to the real thing. If you want to shop a website that you frequent, or check on shipping for a package, always navigate to the site by typing the web address in your browser rather than clicking on a link in an email.
- Don’t open attachments with special offers. This is a classic scam. If the email presents a valid offer, you shouldn’t have to open an attachment or click on a link.
- Before clicking, look closely for problems such as strange or extremely long URLs in the attached links, misspelled words, lengthy and hurried subject lines, or low resolution logo photos.
- Be weary of sharing personal information. If you question an email or text, call the company you are working with to confirm that the inquiry is real before sharing your information.
