November Business Spotlight: My Mom’s Bakery

It all began when Grace Bahr, the mother of Kevin Bahr, expressed, “If I were 20 years younger, I’d open a bakery!” Inspired by his mother’s dream, Kevin Bahr, alonside his domestic partner, Sherri Gillick, launched My Mom’s Bakery in downtown Ely on June 11th, 2018. “Mom taught us with her patience, knowledge and most importantly how to put the love into it with her recipes she collected over the years,” Kevin said.

Drawing inspiration from Grace’s wisdom and treasured recipes, My Mom’s Bakery offers homemade kolaches, cinnamon rolls, caramel pecan rolls, pumpkin bars, pies and more. At the age of 84, Grace still jumps in to lend a hand during the holidays and busy pie-order seasons, proud to see her legacy carried on.

Based on community input, Kevin and Sherri bought an an espresso machine a few years ago so they could expand their menu to include espressos, lattes and americanos. My Mom’s Bakery appreciates the support of the Ely community, and, in turn, they actively participate in local events, including Ely Fall Fest and the beloved Cookies With Santa event at the Ely Fire Station.
