Safety Benefits of a Landline Phone

October 24, 2021

What’s the point of a landline when smart phones have taken over the world? Well, landlines are still relevant, and although many homes no longer have a landline telephone, there are still benefits to owning one. The main reason landlines are significant is safety, especially when you have kids at home. For today’s #tuesdaytip we touch on three reasons why landline phones continue to be an important part of any household. #southslopetips

911 Communication

In the event of an emergency, landline phones can make the process of finding you easier. When you call emergency services from a landline, your address automatically displays on the dispatcher’s screen taking them directly to your location. Sometimes cell phones can’t immediately find your location, wasting crucial time. If you misplace your cellphone, you don’t have service, or you don’t have any battery left, a landline phone is always available in your home for someone to call for help.

Quality and Reliability

With cell phones, calls can drop in the middle of a conversation. We’ve all had it happen, and it’s frustrating when your discussion is interrupted. Landlines have always provided the most consistent service with the highest quality voice reception. The fewer dropped and spotty calls, the better, and landlines continue to perform better in these areas.

Service during Power Outages

When the power goes out, eventually your cell phone battery will too, leaving you stuck with no way to contact help. If electricity is out, a corded landline phone will continue to work 99.9 percent of the time.  Even fiber customers’ phones that have battery backup will work for eight hours. Landlines can give you and your family the comfort they need during an emergency.
