This month’s Business Spotlight is on Frond Design Studios.

Frond Design Studios began in 2012 with a mission to put fine art into fabric design. Stephanie Brandenburg began hand-painting all of her fabric designs about five years before she started her own company. The fabric industry for quilting and sewing is driven by a diverse but primarily female consumer base yet there are very few fabric companies with female founders. Stephanie is proud to be one of the pioneers to begin printing her own designs, warehousing the goods, and creating jobs in her home state of Iowa.

Through the 10 years Frond Design Studios has existed, it has evolved and grown into a wholesale business and now a retail facility located in Fairfax. Stephanie is proud to work with local businesses like South Slope to help each other grow. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Frond Design Studios got the offer to partner with a company in Ontario, Canada, Northcott Fabrics. “We moved our facility to Fairfax in 2021 and switched over to South Slope,” said Stephanie. “Working with South Slope solved many issues we had faced in the past with previous internet providers. Switching to South Slope has saved us in labor, time, and money. Their hands-on approach helps small businesses like ours succeed.”
